Lititz

Yesterday we finally had a free day in which the weather was also decent, so we set out to have a mini adventure in a little town called Lititz. It is a quaint old town, being established by those displaced from the religious persecutions in Europe in the 1700s. For more pictures from another blog, click here.

We arrived after 10, looking first for the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery. After looping around for a parking space, we entered a time capsule for a short tour of the bakery. We heard the story of the invention of the pretzel, and one might be surprised to find that this yummy creation began as a reward for children learning their prayers, 1400yrs ago. The three holes in the pretzels symbolize the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Notably also, is the fact that the pretzel was given/ sold hanging opposite than what it is today. Again, indicating the Trinity. It was an interesting little place.

Next, we adventured down the street to see what we could find. Within a few minutes, we discovered a little toy shop, stopping to investigate, and then followed the sidewalk further to see what lay ahead. We found easily the Lititz Springs Park, which we took a break in, and then walked next door to the Wilbur Chocolate Factory. After stopping for lunch, we got some homemade ice cream at Greco's. YUM!

All in all, it was a great day and a lovely town. Two thumbs up!
